Air is the Guru, Water is the Father, and Earth is the Great Mother of all.

ਪਵਣੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਿਤਾ ਮਾਤਾ ਧਰਤਿ ਮਹਤੁ ॥

The problem is, we did not look at air and water, which we 'used' a bit carelessly. And '20 years down' we would miss fresh air, water, etc like our 'mom' who takes care of us incessantly, without any expectation of reward, return or recognition. That is why we call it 'mother-nature'!We need to care and respect for air and water like our father and mother.

ਪਾਣੀ ਪਿਤਾ ਜਗਤ ਕਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਾਣੀ ਸਭੁ ਖਾਇ ॥੨॥

Water is the father of the world; in the end, water destroys it all. ||2||
